My friend kinda cheated on his snapper, it really wasnt much of a hard fight like i like to have for big fish, He caught it on his 80 pound braid rod with 80 pound mono lol, It did fight hard and take alot of line becuz i made him fight it as it was on 12 pound test, And yea phin i had 4 rods out there with PERFECT size crabs for permit, I had 2 had sand crabs and 2 had blue crabs, all declawed and spines cut off, and nothin at all i left there around 930am becuz i was already about to pass out lol still had to drive all the way home near FIU south lol.

Also forgot to put on my last comment,( not able to edit ), im sure the reason there was nothing but bait on rickenbacker friday night, I saw about a 9 foot brown shark pass by about 4 or 5 times, It was about 4 foot under the water and wouldnt come closer up to see what type it was, All i know is i saw a manta that looked like it had a jet back strapped to it about 30 seconds before the shark came by, after a while we didnt see the shark at all anymore that night, that was the time that the bait started coming back LOL.

actually i went this morning at 4am and the bridge was EMPTY, I went to a piece of the bridge that i cast pilchards at and there was NOTHIN there not 1 freaking pilchard i wasnt to happy, About 5 minutes after getting there some old guy walks over near us and starts casting his rods under the bridge and not even 30 seconds of his bait in the water the old dude castes about a 4 pound red grouper and of course my jaw hit the floor lol, I felt like :nilly:  :auto: the old man lol the grouper seemed a bit undersized to me so i just walked away lol, We did hit up next to the seaquarium and it was chillin the water was awesome got some jacks and blue runners, Also had a guy there fishing with YOYO;s O.o lol, Dude catches about a 8 pound lady fish and doesnt notice it till a huge bull shark starts ripping the line off his YOYO lol, we didnt get to see the shark but the what was left of the lady fish was about 30% of it and it was about 4 1/2 wide of a ladyfish, Needless to say i want to buy a shark rod now LOL.

My girl is a sea lion trainer at the seaquarium and she'll back that statement up. Everyday they dump around 20 gal of unused herring over the seawall around the back of the aquarium and there are tarpon waiting there. Supposedly in the winter its all huge bulls that post up waiting for the bait to get dumped. I've seen a video, it was pretty crazy. I'll try to get her friend to send it to me so I can post it.

Went out there last night searching for sardines. Bridge was PACKED with line tanglers and drunk people trying to fish. Took my big boy rod out and threw out some crab while there and thre my other light rod out with live shrimp......nothing. Big downpour of rain hit us badly but I was glad because it caused water to rush down from the highest point and washed down all the mess people had left there throughout the day. This place looked like one enormous garbage can last night!

Do any fish even swim by there anymore?

yea.....thought about that but it was actually getting held up and there was a guy there that was taking advantage of it and gathering all the floating cans and throwing away the garbage.

Sometimes I feel they need to shut down this place and let it recuperate a bit! People either take everything they catch regardless of regulations or dont throw back what they should and leave it to die on the bridge for no reason.

Went today around 3 and there were ppl there but after I got there it got a little busy, mostly ppl who don't speak English and get upset cause there are only small lane snapper biting lol... Didn't see any bait and only caught big grunts and small snapper... Threw an artificial out and it was getting chewed up by tiny fish. Didn't see anything nice get caught.. a lot of yelling and stanky ass dead poop stank.... Atleast I got to go fishing

Went to the bridge last night after being at Anglin's for a while.....the bridge was PACKED! I didn't want to deal with the mess of people fishing on top of you and screwing with your line so I decided to get down to the beach area instead. Much to my surpeise, I actually brought in some fish. Cuda about 16", Small Bonefish which I didn't even measure and what seemed to be a small Tarpon maybe or larger Bonefish. Got it near shore and then the leader gave out. Overall......good ending for the night and got fish in the LAST place I thought I would!

BTW: If your looking for Sardine......hit the beach and not the bridge like everyone does. There were schools everywhere right on shore, all sizes! Wish I had my casting net.

Lost a gotcha and a jig on lite line today. Then found the scaled sardines and got a couple dozen on a biki before the slack tide killed the bite.

When I get hit on them is when I'm jigging if the macks are deep down.
that was the case today, also got hit by the biggest pin fish i've ever seen...one even inhaled my bucktail jig, hungry pins

Which beach were you on? The beach just across the bridge near the entrance to the fishing bridge or the side before you cross the bridge?

Is live shrimp a good bait for rickenbacker? How would you rig it?
