The permit are here!

Fished 6:30am - 12pm. The water was incoming and a little dirty. Fish wasn't biting too good but a few pompanos here and there. A few ladyfish here and there. Also these guy show up to crash the party. Not many of them as well but it's fun fighting them.

Cant really tell because i usually notice by anal fin..shorter on pomps and longer on permit. Pomps tend to have more golden coloration but that can vary

Two easiest way to tell are
1) The long fin. - pompano fin are shorter
2) The top and bottom fin align. - the top fin of pompano are more forward than the bottom first.

3) black spot near anal area. - does not have this black spot near the anal area.
4) More round shape. - pompano shape are more like a jack than a plate.

That's my next plan but I doubt there's any big permit in tampa bay or someone would hook one already. The largest that I heard was around 26-28" inches.

Pretty close to pompano. Pompano is still a little better.

I would find the best spot that has good water flow (current) and let her rip...theres tons of permit on the west coast. Im pretty sure there are some nice ones out there.
