First off welcome to the site. Now are you having trouble catching fish on the East Coast or just prefer the West coast ? What are you wanting to target overall ? Fresh, salt water , brackish or just want to have the best chance to bend a rod ? What area do you fish overall ie where do you live ? Many questions yes but they will help us to help you the most..

Re: best spot.. now?
cool, thanks yall. i usually go for snook n tarpon. the west coast is just so much easier for me, and i hate being around too many people to! so thats a plus for the west coast as well. i just dont have much luck over here. i live in delray. i pretty much use only the ghost colored x-raps, the sxr's. sometimes i go up to ocean ave bridge, sometimes have luck there. down in dania there are a couple bridges. but overall, i just dont have much luck, but i cant keep just taking off for the west coast, plus the noseeums r horrible right now n the mangroves, esp over there. so any help would b awesome. i love th flamingo area as well, backcountry kayak fishing, but need somewhere close by. any help would be super awesome, thanks yall..

Welcome to the site.. are you looking to kayak, walk the banks/inlets, or bridge/pier fish ?
Kayaking I can help.
Skeeters and no-seeums, are everywhere right now. You need full body armor for Mingo for the next few months.

Lots of good snook and tarpon fishing up in your area on the bridges. Be prpared to move around a lot and hit a lot of spots til you find out when the fish bite. Try hitting the bridges at night at high tides with some live shrimp on jigheads or a DOA terror eyes in rootbeer . Travel light and travel a lot til you find a spot that holds fish.

Beaches this time of year hold some cudas, snook, tarpon, jacks, and sharks but fish nights or early morning. Later in the year the fall run will heat up the surf bite.

Lures this time of year can range from topwaters to soft body shad tail jigs on the calmer days. For the cudas spoons and tube lures or jerk baits. No sure what beaches alllow fishing up there but most will let you fish til around 9 am

yeah? that would be cool, would like to learn how to fish the beaches.. so you wade out? and if so haw far out? and have u had any luck with this technique as of recent??rebel33i wrote:You don't have to cast out far when targeting snook off the beach cast parallel to the sand working your lures in the trough. If i were you i would maybe fish the beaches around Hillsboro inlet,Boynton and Boca i am not sure about lifeguard and legalties and such but the beaches closes to the inlets hold the most snook.drewmullin wrote:with the waves though, how would i get lures out.. and what bait would i use, what beaches? heard a lot of stuff about beaches, but always been unsuccesful so gave up..fishnfool73 wrote:Beaches this time of year hold some cudas, snook, tarpon, jacks, and sharks but fish nights or early morning. No need to wade just fish from the sand. This time of year the area to the north of Dania Pier is incredible. A pocket full of topwaters and 1/4 oz shad tail plastic jigs and maybe a DOA Terroreyez in rootbeer. A light spinner with 6 - 12 lb mono and some 40 lb leader and your in business. Day break and just walk the beach casting along the shore line. Bring tons of bug spray as the skeeters and no see ums are vicious. If it is calm not uncommon to hook 2 - 10 snook on topwaters. They blow up on the lures in the shallow water. Some jacks, cudas, tarpon, and bonita are around as well. Most of the snook will be sub slot but out of season anyways so who cares.

Any walk the dog style lure are great for top water explosion.
