I am going up there for this weekend for a wedding. How many rods are allowed on the pier and what have people been getting the flounder on?

How is the fishing on the pier this past week? I'm curious if it is worthwhile to bring my king rig when I come to town this week.

I would definately bring my king rod. They us alot of trolly rigs too, so you may want to consider that. Use large blue runners or ladyfish if you can get them. The night lighting out there is poor bc they use the turtle friendly lights instead of using overhead lights so bring a headlamp.

Cool. I'll do that. I bought a couple of new rods last time I was in town just before leaving town... I have to go test them out I guess. :reeling:

One question though... can one actually king fish from a pier without a trolly rig?

You don't need a trolley rig to fish for kings, it just keeps your bait in the strike zone with better control.
You can use a large cork if the current is running the right way. If not, you just end up casting out alot more.

everyone uses a trolley system on the pier. the chance for kings go thru the summer. if the kings are hot, the regulars will crowd everyone out with 10 trolleys set up. when the kings arent bitting, there may be 2 trolley systems set up.
