I would like a lil' advice

Post by SFLSeraphim »

so i went fishing last night,

and this happened on the first fish i caught.

the rod was already a lil bent where it broke. its an inexpensive rod that i took from my younger brother, easily replacable etc. but my question is would it be easier to repair it myself, have it repaired, or just buy a new one?

if its easy to repair myself i have no problem doing so. but i have no knowledge of rod building or repairing. any advice is greatly appreciated.

It doesn't look repairable to me. You will certainly be able to find a nice new rod, just depends on how much you want to spend..do a little research..

You need to replace that rod. Since a good portion of the blank broke the action of the rod will change if you shorten it. Be grateful that broken rod was cheap.

Here's the important question...did you catch the fish that broke it?

Almost sounds like it may have got caught in a car door or sticking out a car window that was rolled up on it before you got ahold of it....who knows

HA - the fish that broke it was an embarrassingly small grunt or something

The rod is a Penn Roddy Gator Tail that i bought in combo with a master 170 reel for the lil bro... it was like 70bux total or something..

and yes im pretty sure that it either got caught in a car window or crammed into a car that was smaller than the rod itself.

I knew it was going to break the minute something decided to take the hook ive got a bunch of other rods sitting around my shed somewhere but i think this break is a good thing, its about time to upgrade all my fishing gear anyways.
