PhisingPhanatic - I haven't seen those gogs yesterday and am quite surprise how thick they were today. I hope they stay for a while since there are times that the very next day, you couldn't even find them at all.
James - I had no choice but to drag him slowly in the sand as it is hard to land a Snook on the pier by yourself...
Keith & Rijkaard - He's insisting that he's ready for deep frying, LOL!
No net in the house? Just wondering.
awesome snooker. Last day today!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a nice way to say it, that Snook got her wet before it got dry with breadcrumbs. :jester:
Still a nice catch!

I'm fishing down in Ft. Laud from June 10-28. What can I catch and where can I catch it? Also what should I use for bait? And what are my chances on tarpon, snook, or whatever the hell else I can catch? I just want to catch some fish.

In June you should have snook, tarpon, runners, snapper, and cudas around for the most part. As far as baits there should be some pilchards, herring, gogs, and sardines around along with some small runners and dork jacks.
Dreaming the dream that one day I can be as good as some of the boatless pros and catch some 12 inch mangrove snapper.

Anything going on at Anglins?.....anything at all!!??

I have a day off tomorrow and I don't care if I catch bait, seriously....I have a couple Sabiki rigs I want to try and I have never fished for bait and figure it's an important thing to learn so again I ask......

ANYTHING at all going on at Anglins :(

When it is quiet people are catching fish.

Went to Dania Pier yesterday ( first time) at 4:30 AM. Tide was high at 5:30 winds from the se seas clear and steady, I baited pilchards and stopped at 3 dozen which took about an hour. Pilchards were 3-5 inch range. had a bottom rod down and reeled in a puffer tried to sling him over the rail and I was about 2 inches short so I lost my rig. Pier is higher then Anglins...Duh. One guy landed a 20lb barracuda and they also got 2-nice snook ( keepers last week) first thing at sunrise. Met My friend Jose at Dania about 9 and we fished pilchards on free line for a couple hours. Had some followers mac and Barracuda but we did not land anything. WE packed up and was going to Anglins when I got a call that reminded me I had to take my son somewhere so Jose went to Anglins and I headed home about 12:00. Just spoke to Jose and he said he got a keeper mutton at anglin yesterday and a couple of Yellow tail. Wish I could have finished the day yesterday at Anglins but the kid needs his Dad. Just bought some sabeki's and will start at Dania to bait in the morning and head to Anglins for the morning bite. I'll let you know and hopefully have a better story to share after tomorrow.

Was out there yesterday. Plenty of bait, but no fish. I did hear about some snapper at the tee.

as promised, my report:

got there around 8:30AM. tide was somewhat pushing the baitfish towards the NW. saw some big snook and cudas near the shoreline. caught a blue runner on some shrimp. at the T there was a nice sized king and some grunts near the SW side. no one was really catching anything except for those catching their own bait. I think that pier is way too over fished imo.

Anglins is a hit or miss fishing pier. Anglins does best is during the spring and fall mirgration. You have to fish target speices at that pier. When you know what are targeting for then you need to get there early and catch your own bait. Now it is time for snapper and summer speices. Fish the reef line and of the tee. You need to go out when the water is clear and you will see the snapper holes. Tie a small jig or gotcha or a spin rod incase Spanish Macs comes thu. If nothing is happen catch some pilchards or sand perch and catch a big snook. Make sure to release them quickly since the season is closed for them now. Use a net to release the big female since they will be full of eggs soon.
