Fished today from 6:45 - 11:00. Caught a few crevalles, 1 yellow jack and countless houndfish. Water was crystal clear and there was no bait.

Current running south, winds from nw~6kts.
Same as last night. Glad I left when I did. I could see bottom at one in the morning.

Welcome to the forum. Was there bait around today?

I was out Sunday in the AM as well. Bait in the surf. Pilchards and Sardines. Very slow day.

Was out Sunday from 11 to 4pm. Pilchards were halfway between the surf and the first house. Blue runners and anc mackeral were on the north side of the first house. I had seen a 20lb+ barracuda and a a large tarpon cruising the tee. Otherwise it was a slow day for fishing. We had one keeper mangrove snapper on a live pilchard off the tee, several blue runners, and lost a nice size mackeral.

Can someone post some basic info on Pompano fishing... I havent fished pompano before. I see that the pier has a one rod limit for pompano season. I also read that the pompano like to eat sand crabs. And that the water needs to be a bit cooler. But I know no more than that.

I was at the pier Saturday morning got there about 5am. Put out the crab trap and got a dozen in the bucket before 7am. Put out two Permit rods in the trough and beyound did not get a bite. Went up to the "T" on the inside before the last hut, saw the snook laying on the bottom waiting for a meal so I threw a four finger sand perch into the mix and Blam... got slammed and gleemed immediately by a tarpon hanging under the pier. Did not hook the tarpon I was using a number 2 baithook for the snook. Kept throwing to the snook till my bucket was empty but did not land or get a bite out of them. Nice day for looking at the bottom since it was crystal clear. Left the pier about 1PM caught a few blue's about it

Took my two boys, nephew and dad fishing Saturday 10/3 from 11:00am till about 3:00pm. Like everyone else said water was clear and flat. Between all of us we caught

Bunch of skip jacks
A few blue runners
3 nice Bar jacks
2 nice Yellow jacks
1 Moonie
2 trigger fish 11 inches
10 Mangrove snappers (kept 6 legal, threw back 2 pinch the tail legal and 2 undersize)

All in all a nice time with the family and got enough fish for dinner. What more can we ask for in life.
