good, will be there before 6. pssh! jk, let me know how the bite goes, i should be out there tomorrow morning, i know i think i heard the winds will be blowing pass 10mph but eh, anyone have experience with winds blowing through, stir up the water to bring in fish around the reef and all?

fished from 7:30-1145
cought a small nurse shark
bait very thin to none, cught babe by leaving sabiki in water
had a nice size dine on the line, somthing started to take off with it and when i pulled up my knot came loose!
after a short rain storm some dude sharking caought a nice 5 footer but people on the pier were to busy watching and didnt move there rods! shark went under pier and the rest is history!
lightning was nice (love thunderstorms on water) but then got too close!

You have 2 options at night while the bright lights are off. Look for bait around the end of the pier, or hang a lantern on the side the current is coming towards you.

there was a jerk surfer out there, but thanks to the pier attendant who was fishing a little told him to keep away from the pier. ( i'll assume it's someone on the forum because i believe it's him but i dont know? ) -

Could have been me, or, I could have been him, or,.. me and myself could have been them.

Wednesday there was a large Bull inshore cruising the waves. I wouldn't mind watching one suck in a surfer like a piece of spaghetti. Surfers next to piers are very deserving of internally exploring the digestive track of a hungry predator.

Fished from 6 am till 11.30am.Bait was moving up and down all morning but at least they stayed close to the pier.I went 3 of 6 on Snook and a guy next tom lost like 5 or 6.Nice day but to many people fishing.Will try again tomorrow.

Fished from 7:30 to noon with high winds and cloudy water. Plenty of bait 1/4 to 1/3 down the pier. Mixed bag of pilchard, greenies and blue runners ranging from micro to medium, mostly on the smaller side. I caught four nice blue runners near the end of the pier one of them 12". I know they can get bigger, but that's the biggest one I've caught. There were two nice cero caught off the end with live pilchard fished off the bottom. Other than that, it was kinda slow and kinda crowded.

Its fine to throw them back in, but just let it slide out of your hands so it falls head first... as long as you dont hear SMACK like 350 lb linebacker did a belly flop off the pier your good.. Just be easy with them.

Get some string and cut a bunch a small pieces and get to work on your net and tie all the holes to make them all smaller. It will help you later for other species so they don't fall thru and break off when you are lifting the net.

Its not very good advice to tell someone its ok to just let them slip out of your hands as long as they fall head first. What if the fish flops on the way down pretty silly to hear someone say that. I have released A LOT of snook and never had one gill themselves in the net on the way back down. Like everything else there is a little bit of technique to it. IMO just droppping them off head first unless its a sub slot fish is not a sound practise. When i am releasing one i lower them down normally until about a foot off the water then i just let the net out of my hands and kind of free fall the last half a foot or so the force of the water makes the fish rise right out of the net. Just let them slide through your hands Some of you guys should take up snapper fishing in the summer or something.

I agree Scotty, Dania is a tall pier. Even if the fall dosen't kill them it would stun them long enough for a predator to get them.

I guess holding them by the tail, spinning in circles and letting them launch like a bag of rocks is not a good idea?

Pat ................not to mention the roe they are carrying you know the reason they are out there in the first place.

Didn't even think of that Scott. Your right. The bigger the fish the harder they will hit. And the females are bigger. And we know they are spawning right now. Being full of roe makes them even more suseptable to injury.
