if you have a net great (id imagine someone targeting snook should) but if your fishing for snapper and you hook onto a snook & don't have a net what else can you do but drop him back in. granted if someone kind enough is willing to land your fish and release him, great. but catching a snook should be fun, not "holy sh*t lets get him back in the water, he shouldn't be up here!"phino wrote: agreed. i mean i dont target them, they just strike the bait, we were getting grovers with the pilchards, and some snook were busting them, and i also had them out for blue runners and jack crevalles that come in and i get hits with the snook as well. even at far cast outs the snook hit. but when i heard the guy say drop it in, i didn't know what to say as to i am not very experienced with the snook releasing. i did think of putting in my bucket (which I use to get water for bait) and lowering it down but i didn't because i thought it would hurt the fish as well to have it's body in their, but i will need to learn a better way to release them with the net, or like zeb said, find a way to make the hole's smaller on the net. thanks for the info.
+1 on having a net tho lol, like zeb said...wouldn't want to lose a fish.
