So I hit up Backer tonight. Was there from 8:30 - 10:30. Hell of a wind and the water was incredibly choppy. All we got to see was a few decent sized Snook and Tarpon playing around and not going for anything thrown at them and what must've had been thousands of jellyfish........everywhere! Not even a single bite! Tried dead shrimp, Silverside, Sardines and an assortment of artificials.
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. –A.K. Best

That's why I stayed home. Can barely fish fish in 31 to 35 m/h winds that gusts to 41 m/h. Look at it on the bright side: You got a nice flat line bait that can yield a 30 pound kingfish... :toast:

Ah man you jinxed rare already, at least those nurses are pretty in comparison to the ones in Long Key, LOL....

It's coming to a halt. It's supposed to be great fishing tomorrow so go out and fish.

I was at the rick last night... got there around 7:45 and left around 12:15... The only thing I caught was a small crab that grabbed a death grip hold on my leader line's swivel... Small fish (I think mullet) were thick, every time I casted out they'd fly into the air when the sinker hit the surface.

Looked like everyone was in the same boat... no fish, lots of nibbles.

Oh man I was thinking about hitting up the Rick tonight but after that reports I dont even know. Would fishing from the beach around the ocean club in key biscayne produce any results?

hit up the rick this morning for a couple hours. macks were out and about till about 8:30 when the tide changed, then baby blue runners and lizard fish. lost two on the flip, and got cut off once, frustrated, i finally landed one before the bite shut off. saw a few others landed on pollitos (rick slang for jigs  ). it was a nice day to be out

Has the mac bite been consistent in the mornings? Might have to head over a day or two before work!

WOW! That brings back so many memories. That's how Bearcut was too. You had to be careful not to get your foot stuck in between the planks. And the sway with the wind was fun too. Many, many thanks for sharing what you found :toast: :toast: :toast: :thumleft: :thumright:

That is packed tight. That def is an awesome picture though, I love seeing fishing pictures like that, just give you a sense of old memories for those that fished that era, and for us young guns, what it used to be.
