Take a look at the ones in the attached pic.

I.

A short loop of 80# mono is attached with a snell knot. The second snell knot back on the hook shank is a bait holder.

I think these are pretty self explanatory.

First: Bend the hook up.
Second: Open the split shot wide by using a hammer and table knife.
Third: Clamp on the shot.

The bottom pic shows a weed guard....

All you need is a .45 case, 3/8 reinforced vinyl tubing, 4/0 jig hook and a 3/16 drill bit. One buckshot pellet or large split shot. The shot rattles and makes this a noisy lure.

For the most part that is all that I do.. Sometimes the pesky birds feel like swiming and dive at it.. When that happens I put on a split shot weight so it helps it to sink out of way of the birds.

Or you could try fishing in one of the piers that are along the coast at broward my Favorite is Anglin's Pier for the many diferent species that you could catch...so good luck!

Although it is a bit of an infomercial or Shimano, it is filled with great info. Butterfly or Vertical Jigging is a GREAT way to get down deep. Summertime Kings and Amberjack cannot leave them...
