While cleaning out my late grand fathers attic I came across 2 old rods ,one is a 10 footer with a wooden butt and guides that a held on by thread only ( no epoxy). the other is a 8 footer with a cork...

IMO we never ever use a drag setting device on a spinning reel... it was always by feel and learning to
cup the spool when more drag was needed.. and Yes I agree too much overthinking will get you in...

rob crowder in stuart has an 8' 30-80 eglass blank that will do great for snapper and grouper alone he has other graffite blanks that will work for your inshore stuff too
