Ormond by the Sea 9/29/13

Post by sheqeri »

Fished Sunday from 10AM-1PM. Water was very rough with a strong N-S current but the 6oz sputniks held fine. Baited the first 15' rod with a last piece of crab fishbites and sent it out there without much expectations. As I'm preparing the second rod, I noticed my 15' rod shake so I grabbed it and sure enough there was something heavy on the other end. For a while it felt like a sting ray a.k.a cement block .

Knowing that the weakest link was the pompano rig (15 lbs test) I didn't put a lot of pressure and took it easy. After about 10 min, I started to see a fin sticking out of the water. Not another shark, I said to myself! Then as I got closer to it, I saw a beautiful red fish. It measured 29".

That's the first one for this year and I'm looking forward for more. The only other fish I caught was a small catfish but it didn't matter.

That red fish made my day.

Tight lines!
