This, my friends, is my first carp of 2014...and it is my first mirror carp!

We had a double header of that mirror carp and this 40lb piggy! Yes, we weight this piggy on a scale...it's not an estimate.



Dave caught the 40 and another legit 30 on the same day, plus a "regular" 25, 21, 10 and 7.

I finished the day with the mirror, a 12 and a 15.

i used to fish for mirror carp a long time ago in New Jersey. We would use corn meal and doughballs for bait. Man they would put up one hell of a fight, especially when you got them near the bank, unlike the grass carp down here which fight almost like a wet boot.

Are these all mirror carp? The one on top looks very different from the rest. Cool fishes though!

Top one is a mirror. The others are just common.

Both mirror carp and leather carp are just really common carp with a mutation. Koi is just a common carp that was selectively breed for colour and scale patterns.
