How do you setup your tarpon rig?

Just want some of your guys thoughts,views and opinions on different tarpon set ups
I use 40 pound main line tied to a heavy duty swivel which is tied to 80 pound shock absorbin mono line then either a hook with bait or artificial lures.

I just got new hogy lures and hope they work.Im new to saltwater fishing and i fish at anglins and dania pier and recently the upper keys. Any tips for setting up lines for these beast and lures/bait would greatly be appreciated. ThAnks

The Hogy would have to be a pretty hefty lure to cast on 40#, I would drop that down, loose the swivel and unless it is at night lower your leader down to about 40# until you can prove to yourself you need a larger one.
The great thing about a Tarpon is that you aren't gonna keep him anyway so what does it matter if he gets away after a good fight.

Personally I use heavy leader for tarpon, I have been frayed off too many times on 50 lb leader, I usually use 80 or even 100. Like Greentide said, I would drop the swivel and learn how to tie a good line-to-line knot like an Albright or uni-to-uni.
