3/19/07 Greenup Dam Ohio River report w/pics

Well went out this morning looked out at the creek behind my house, it was really low, and on the drive to the river all the streams I crossed were at normal pool or a little low. When I started to cross the Jesse Stuart bridge going across the ohio, i said Oh crap. The ohio was up big, we haven't had that much rain as of late but I guess up in the Penn, WV area they have had some snow and rain in the mountains and it has the river running really full, I was targetiing sauger but where I was supposed to be standing to vertical jig minnows the water was about 6ft deep, I still made a few casts but no takers, lost 1 jig and decided to go home, I did take some pics though.
Where the light poles are at there is a walkway, but it is about 6ft under.
Looking towards Kentucky from Ohio, notice all the flood gates are wide open.
This is looking down the river to the west.
Looking towards the hydro plant tower. High water!!
Maybe towards the end of the week the river will be down enough to fish, I plan on trying to keep track of the river level.

wow scott you were right just a tad unfishable. you should invest in downriggers or something else just to stay close to the bottom for those conditions.

yeahhh the water was ridiculous. I read online at ohiogamefishing.com that the lower sidewalk goes under at 21ft. When i was there the water was 49ft. I was guessing it was under 6 ft or so, didn't have no idea it was 28ft under LOL........... with the warm weather moving in this week and minimal showers, the river should get back down where we can go fishing, i've heard a lot of reports about people catching over 100 sauger, 75 hybrids, and 100 white bass all in a day off the wall.. amazing to me! can't wait to get in it

He was refering to the spammer that brought an article back from the dead. He posted thinking it was a current article as it was brought back by the spammer he was cursing.
For a minute I thought that KYFISHERMAN was finally back on here til I saw the date.
