Snook?? NO!! Shrimp?? yeah!!

In Linesiders words... "Must be nice bro, must be nice"... Cool catch, I nailed a little snook on a bucktail, red/white in the surf in south beach while I was "visiting" My grandmas friend... No pics as I had the phone in the car and the camera as usual is eating the batteries. I was trying for jacks, at sunset and got that surprise. He was (guestimating) about 14 inches, a tiny little one.

Anyway, glad to hear your back is better and good job on those bottom dwellers.

Ok Finally a week of bed rest and some good PKs my back is like new.
Any recipes for a good rice shrimp kind of meal?? ( cookin....)??

Shrimp an rice?

Dude, get some safron, chorizo sausage, chicken and make some paella. Put the shrimp in last, as you want that crispy rice on the bottom of the pan without over cooking the shrimp...yum!!

Taquitos rolled in soft flout tortillas with a nice roasted tomatillo sauce - yum yum.

Now that is what I would like to be doing...Fishing for snook and doing some shrimping... Havent done either but would love to give them both a shot.l

Im with you noodlerod! Ive been snook fishing with marginal success and I need to do it more, but shrimping I have never done.

Thats awesome Id like to try to catch shrimp somtime, do you have any reccomendations for nets or lights to use?

And where did you go in the bay to find them, I really have no idea how one attempts to locate and catch shrimp

Rikenbacker causeway, fishing cat-walk... cold ugly windy night, Get a SwordLight, take the battery from your car and a long extension cord and rope. Get a long, extendable handle shrimp net (bait shop) and a 5 gallon bucket.
Some people also bring beer to chum up the shrimpers while waiting.

Haul all that stuff to an open spot on the catwalk, attach the swordlight to the battery, drop it down into the water, watch for shrimps to swim/float by, and dip, (watch others to get the hang of it).
When you have a softball size pile of shrimps in the net bring it up and empty into the bucket, when the 5 gallon bucket is full you are done, go home and start the deheading process.

Cook and eat.

Or, easier yet ... when you see the guy on the side of thr road with the sign that says Shrimp Jumbos $6.00 per pound, stop and buy them.
