Results of Friday Snookin

Ok, got to blackpoint with WolfNp and caught bait. We were fishing high low around 9:00pm, with no results, but they did open the gates like at 12:00 and we were able to net some smaller mulet (around 8" or so). So we head out to spot two. I thow my bait in the water waiting for Wolfnp to finish baiting so we can walk to the spot and wham, something skins my mullet. So I tell WolfNp to hurry and toss his bait, and low and behold I hook into a beast that takes off for about a good 10 mins and actually straightens the hook. Right after me Wolfnp hooks up but after like a 15 min fight (and a fall) the fish cuts through 80 lbs leader. I have my suspicion that they were BIG tarpon (no jumps though). Next spot lost one big snook but caught her little brother about a 24" linesider. In all a great night. Looking foward to this friday if the weather permits.

tarpon can be easily caught on 80lb test so i doubt it, but hey it might have been......but....... i dont know where you were fishing but it could have been a big cuda too!

My thanks to Frisky Mullet for showing the new kid some tricks. I learned a few things and look forward to heading out again. Gotta get my gear right for the next trip. The fight from the mystery fish was great, next time I stand still so I dont end up on my butt.

All in all I had a great time.

I don't think it was a cuda because first I have caught 4' and 5' cudas and they do not run like this thing was running. I seriously think it was either a big tarpon like 100 + or a small shark hooked in the corner, but who knows.

definatly couldve been a small or med sized shark but like i said tarpon can be easily caught on 80lb test leader even it it is 150+ but whatever.... not rying to burst you bubble.... it very well could have been a tarpon!

I plan on going again this friday provided the weather permits so... I should know like on thursday. I will post for sure on thursday.

With regards to what the fish was. All i can say is that I am still kicking myself for missing that fish (lucky fish). oh well hopefully I'll get him on Friday.
