October Fishing in Captiva

Post by sandsea »

Hello everyone! New to the board and so glad I found it! Our family is planning a trip to Captiva in October. Anyone have any advice on where and what may be around then? We will be shore fishing - may rent a boat for a day if the weather cooperates. Hubby is really looking to catch a few jacks or sharks if they are around. Also, any advice on equipment and bait would be a BIG help!

Thanks everyone...

out at blind pass there are normally some pretty big sharks but I dont know when there going to start dredging it out. As far as bait goes theyll eat anything thats nice and bloody so if you catch a catfish then chunk it up and youve got bait. We normally fish it at night so i dont know about during daytime

There are a ton of snook in the 10 to 15 feet from shore. Use light bucktails early in the morning and you should be able to catch a few.

I don't know what kind of gear you have but there are a ton of sharks there. A lot of blacktips.

Thanks for the replies! Hubby is really not too picky about what he catches as long as he catches something! Looking forward to the trip!

Thanks
