Captiva Island 11/27-11/30

Karen and I spent our Thanksgiving week and weekend at Captiva Island. We stayed at the South Sea Island Resort. Such a beautiful and friendly place. Arrived on Thrusday late afternoon. After checking in we scouted around and decide to fish the seawall.
Gag grouper on a Goofy jig. Caught a few Jacks after that.
After dinner decide to check the local tee dock. The snook were feeding like crazy. The sound of pops one after another. There must have been twenty people on this dock and it didnt effect them at all. I ran back to my room and grab my ultralite and a few Yo-Zuri and DOA Terror Eyes. Started a conversation with a regular there he must have landed about fifteen snook when I was there. Show me a few pointers and off I go. This picture does not show all the snook on both side and around the dock. The pigs were all at the bottom just waiting to kill something. Must have been over a 100 snook.

Friday, we caught a few dozen of grovers, dozen or so gags, a few red grouper, and sheephead. Later that night decide to hit the dock again. No such luck this time. Tide was dead slack. Would not hit anything even a large live shrimp. After two hours of this crap we left and fish a small inlet connected to the marina. Seatrout and ladyfish glore.

For the few members who are wondering? She said "YES." Thank god for that, she would have had a long walk back to Miami.
Saturday, Karen's starting to get the hang off this troll rite style of fishing. She lands two Black Drums. First one was 21" and later that day 15". Caught a crap load again of grovers and grouper.

Saw a school of sheephead by the jetty and another school of snook that must had 50 or more sitting at this amush point.
End result we had a great time. Tons of fish caught and spend a romantic week together. I couldnt get Karen to stop fishing. Yes, she caught 80% off the fish. Wondering what I was doing? Going mad trying to make mister Snook eat and in search of a Redfish.
I want to stop and do other stuff at the resort but she said noooooo. I made a monster out of her. We be back next year again.

Sounds like you guys had fun. Next time try a bit of night time shark fishing on the beach. Those beaches are great for sharks.
very nice place to stay. I checked it online and it's a pretty penny. Now I wanted to ask you where did you get that book next to the drum with all the explanations of the fish.
