Sanibel Pier to Bind Pass Fishing

Post by frankfp »

My Wife and I wil be flying down from Iowa to Fort Myers Beach, April 26 to May 4th, staying on the south end of FMB, bay side across from the golf course, new to Saltwater Fishing. I have a new 9 foot AB Rib inflatable boat that I plan to fish Estero Bay for the frist time, bay side oF the golf course. My wife doesn't like being on the water, likes to fish from the beach, Plan to fish Sanible Pier to Blind Pass, How will the fishing be for Pompano, Redfish, Trout, and Snook this time of year, any help on fishing Sanibel and Estero Bay would be appreciated. Is Sanibel and FMB very crowded this time of year, I have been doing alot Saltwater fishing on my computer on this Fourm, and what a Great Fourm it is, Thanks to all you for making it Great. Take care----Frank Faust

I'm actually going to be there the weekend after you and your wife leave. I was there with my wife. In February for a weekend. They had some HUGE sheephead and we caught 3 bonnet head sharks. My wife has been fishing there since she was a child, pretty much every summer except for the past 4 years. She says that the action in the sumer and end of spring, things start heating up. I know someone caught a redfish while we were there as well. That's the only report I can give you right now. Hope it helps. You can always ask the guys at the bait shop on the island. Give them a call they're pretty knowledgeable about the fishing trends.

you should have a lot of fun in Estero bay with a small boat. Try and be on the water early, after about 10 the invasion of the snowbirds in pontoon boats starts ( thankfully they will all leave at the end of the month ). The beach at the end of big Carlos pass can be good for your wife if she preferes to be shorebound.
