Folks in Naples must be too busy catching to waste time posting reports, huh?

Hit Naples Pier today. Got a bunch of small macks on spoons/freelined silversides. Got cutoff a couple times too. Only two bigger than 12". Some skipjack caught too.
What's your guys best way of catching silversides off the pier? I was using a #6 sabiki and had a somewhat difficult time getting them.

Silversides/ anchovies or small sardines ? Most of the silversides I have seen are tough to catch on sabikis. Try #3 biks for them next time.

I headed down to Naples yesterday so I decided to stop by the pier and do some fishing. I was there from about 12:30pm to 4:00pm. Like usual the tourist's outnumbered the fishermen. I stayed fishing near the middle of the pier by the concession stand. There was plenty of small pilchards to be caught if you had one of those ring bait catchers with the orange strip going down the middle. One guy had a home made one that was perfect for these small baits. I started throwing a banana jig for pompano but caught only juvenile macks. Samething with the gotcha plug, crappie jig and live pilchards. There were tons of juvenile macks. I did see a 10" flounder caught and a nice 13"-14" trout caught. There were some snook under the bait but no takers. I didn't walk all the way to the tee so I'm not sure what was being caught out there. I also saw one of the resident porpoise eat one guys live lady fish, his rod almost broke in half and he almost took a crap

Feb28th: The pier was extremely busy as pompanos arrived. Most were taken on those shiny pink jigs.
It was actually too busy to be enjoyable... and many ladyfish were caught as well

How far out from the sand do the pomps run over there? Are they within casting distance with sand fleas?

I've always done best on the South side of the Pier. Either right at the end or between the concession and about 1/2 way to the end.
I'll know more when I get there on April 18th.

Naples used to get these intense schools of spanish mackerals, but this was a few years ago. Nowadays I do not know.

There was a pretty large fish kill due to bacteria last week in Naples, but the Health dept. said the water is fine.... Hmmm

I was at the pier this past Saturday and the water looked like there had been a red tide. There were a few brave souls swimming in that crap. It was about 5:30pm when I got there and only stayed for about 20 minutes. I did see a guy cleaning 4 or 5 Black Drum he had caught earlier on sandfleas inshore. There also were plenty of Snook swimming under the pier near the concession stand. That's as far as I walked so not sure what was going on at the tee but from what I heard not much. Plenty of bait inshore also...

I'm in Broward County, so I'm used to the crappy Dania pier, but only one page of reports for Naples over how long?
I haven't been to Naples in a while, but I'm visiting for a couple of days this weekend; gonna' try and hit the pier since I'm not too familiar with the area. I'll do my best to report what I see!

The fishing today was horrible. Water clarity was 6 inches and nothing caught from 7-2
