Fishing near the rich and famous

It was windy with scattered storms predicted, so I decided to just do an excercise paddle in north Biscayne Bay and bring a rod along in case anything looked fishy. I started trolling near one of the spoil islands and fairly soon the rod bent over with what felt like a little cuda or jack. As I got it near the kayak, the drag started screaming, and I figured it must be a jack. 3 seconds later, the line goes quiet and I reeled up this nice little cuda head. I suspect cuda-on-cuda fishicide.

I then went back to paddling, looking at all the nice houses and noticed a little grass flat by a seawall. This looked fishy, so out went my topwater again. A minute later, there's a nice tug on the rod and instead of another little cuda, I got a nice fat 19 1/2 inch trout. They normally don't bite much in the summer, so getting one at high noon after a full moon was a nice surprise.

One of the other nice features or urban kayaking down here- if you get hungry or thirsty, there's an ice cream boat!
