Put in South of Deering Estate this morning. Wind was up there. Pulled in a few nice jacks on a plastic just in front of the estate, i think next to the little island there has been dredged.
It was challenging being my first time out there, but had some fun.
I will check the wind first from now on before loading up all my gear.

Thats a good place to fish, parking is not the safe-est I have seen broken windows in the lot.
There is a channel dug many many years ago that goes out into the bay, was dug long ago when the estate was built for bring in supplies. Snapper can be caught in that channel, as wells a a Snook or two once in a while around that little island, and many many cuda. Suggest you continue paddling and explore that entire mangrove shoreline, all arund Chicken Key, and points North of that.
And yes check the wind predictions, any East on the forecast makes it sloppy to fish.

I found a comfy stadium seat cushoin with a solid plastic base and back in my garage. I will post pics of my water jitney soon, but damn it helps my butt stay dry and is super comfortable.

Went back out on a hightide this morning, just the sun was coming up.
Went to the island just off the deering estate again. Caught glimpses of a manatee, that was nice.
I hooked into a few 8-10 lb jacks on an xrap, that was fun.
The winds picked up and brought in a nice school of 19-23" ladyfish, had one on almost every cast, that was cool.
Returned to shore at 9:15 AM and ran into a kayak meetup group. @ 9:30 am leaving to go out, seems a bit late.
Great time.
