wanna catch a cobia

The cobia run takes place in the Keys mainly in the winter for cobes your best bet would be Deerfield or Juno pier right now. I have seen or heard of cobes on about ever bridge in the Keys though. Live pins or cut bait would be a good choice for bait. Try a live bait in the current on a bobber and a few nice size dead baits on bottom. I have not found a realible bridge for them they are a by catch from my experience. I caught a 27 lb one on Niles last January but that is when they are around on most of the bridges there.

deerfield pier put a whole blue claw crab on the bottom or float out a live pinfish mine i caught of a ray on a spro bucktail

Typical bottom rig works....when they were around we used to go during the wek when it wasn't crowded and set out several runner heads on the bottom, freeline a live runner and set out some live baits on the bottom and one on a balloon or trolley rig. For live baits a nice size runner, jack, pinfish, mackeral , grunt, crab , or mullet all work great for live bait. We used to hook up on the bottom patties on dead bait then reel then me and the cobia would follow them in. During the day keep a jig with a squid or cut bait rigged and ready on a big spinner as the cobes wilkl show up out of no where then leave fast.
