Boatless Fishing Forum, Reports, Info

Headed down to flamingo with Goblinshark for some fishing and to see some native florida wildlife. About 2-3 Miles from flamingo on the way back we see this monster crossing the road. Pretty cool! We caught her and took her to Skip Snow a NPS biologist and he says that they are going to put a radio transmitter on her and release her to see what the snakes habits are in the glades and to see how they are affecting the natives after which they will euthenize her. Here are some pics.

sweet deal dude..we were out in the glades on my buddys airboat a few years back and we got a 9 ftr..but it was FAT..like ridiculous...thats killer tho

I have caught quite a few fish just screwing around flamigos docks at night. Good job on the snake, Id have jumped on it too! HAHA I been known to do it with rattlers and moccassins as well. >_<

Thanks guys! Next time I go I'll be sure to let you guys know. We mostly drive around and look for snakes once we find one we use the snake sticks to control them and take a picture. Then we get them off the road. We have seen a bunch of florida species, including moccasins but no live rattlers yet. We keep hoping one day.

I have fished the end and it hasn't been bad but right now its pretty dead. There is so many mullet in the marina that fishing would be pointless. One time I caught 7 snook right there on shrimp.

Maybe I look at this different but those snakes are not native.
Dont need to be studied or anything. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that YES they do impact the native species. I one crosses my path on my journeys thru the Tamiami Trail it will be a dead one with the hide tanned.

lol. That fine and your entitled to do what you will. I personally don't like to kill things for no reason. I see the need but I can't bring myself to do it. Besides research will help to find more because you discover thier habits here in the glades and where you need to look for them.

Poons, snooks and snakes...all you need now is a gator.
