Ok, a few days ago I went up to sanibel to chill at the beach. I decided to do a bit of shark fishing that night and caught two black tips. Tiny 2 ft and 3ft sharks. I also got spooled on my diawa 400H with 50# line and 200 lb multi strand wire.
I was thinking about respooling the reel with 500 yards of 150# power pro. What do you guys think?
help? Shark fishing question.

Respool it with 65lb Power Pro and top it off with 250lb PP. That way you wont get spooled and you can locked down without worrying about getting tailwhipped.

hey
So 250 # power pro is abrasion resistant enough so that if the tail line does rub on its back I should be ok?
I was thinking of puting on a 25 ft wind on leader of 200 lbs mono.

It's all a personal preference soem guys liek mono and soem swear by powerpro.
Many will argue that powerpo gives you and immdeiate hookset and others have lost countless fish due to powerpro.
Powerpro is expensive and usually has a higher breaking point that it say on the package.
Try different things and see what works for you don't go by what guy tells you and I'm sure BTH has great techniques, he knows how to catch sharks.
250lb powerpro may be more expsensive to do a topshot with becasue you'll have to buy a spool i think and it's a lot harder to fins than 200lb mono which you can find almost everywhere.

yup
i say wind on of 200 or 300 even beter use the smaller line 65 to 80 for yardeg but remember it takes real size to absorb the extended strees from a big fish

Hey
Thank you to all that replyed. I have respooled with about 600-700 yards of 65 lbs power pro and I will be expreimenting with the top shot. I have 200 lbs wind on leader and I will also buy 250 lbs powerpro and test it out on friday. Any one know where I can buy 250lbs power pro in 150 yard spools here in miami or is ordering it from cabellas the only way to get it?
