I dont like to keep bait in the freezer that much, I usually always catch fresh bait, like barracuda or runners. If its not prepared properly frozen bait is a turn-off!!

Hey Budman, from one Jax guy to another, GOOD LUCK TEAM OUTCAST !! I grew up in Jax and used to fish the old pier, Ponte Vedra Beach, Summer Haven etc back in the late 70's and 80's (I know, it sounds like
Springsteens Glory Days). Do you remember the Forth Of July Shark Tournament ? How about the old Jax Shark Club or the Shark Hunters ? I saw your roster and didn't recognize any of the names, but heck I'm a nobody. Been living in G-ville for 20 years and am really interested in putting a team together for next year. The cool thing is that most of my buds have sons who can be the "frogs" and take the bait out in the kayaks so I don't have to do it. Between the 2 Penn 12/0's and 2 9/0's I have, they must be 25- 30 years old. Old Harnell, Hurricane and Lamiglass rods I built myself. I wonder if any of these young bucks recognize those names ? Between us, we have an entire set of the old Ocean City reels, from 6/0 to 16/0. They're not making those any more! I'll take my black beauties over those new fancy reels anytime !!! Anyway, again, best of luck. I hope to give you some competition next year. Kingfish

Hey Kingfish, I used to fish the old pier, but they had banned Shark fishing before I moved here. That old pier had a lot of history. I have been out on the new pier, but haven't fished there.
If you get over this way, give me a yell. Maybe we can soak some bait.

NC Bearhunter and Budman, sorry it took so long to get back to you. I used to fish the Vilano bridge catwalks years ago. Had a buddy catch a huge jewfish on batray wings one night 200-300 lbs. Jumped several tarpon, caught some small sharks and got rip roaring drunk several times. If I can ever get my s--- (stuff) together, I'll be soaking some bait somewhere. The beauty of living in G-ville is I can get to the Skyway Bridge and the east coast in a couple of hours. it's waiting for me, all I got to do is get there. Good luck in the tournament. Kingfish
