Guys,

Awesome site. I have just signed up and this is my first post. I live in Houston Texas. I read a previous post that talks about how us 'crazy' texas folks make the trip all the way across to Florida just to fish for 1 or 2 days. Well I am one of those guys. We made a trip to Cape San Blas for memorial day weekend.

Tomorrow night we are heading out to Pensacola area and see what we can get hooked into. Any advice on local honey holes or best beach area to fish. Any recent big toothy catches in this area? I will post up our report on Monday.

This is almost a scouting trip for 2nd week in August where we are coming over for 6 days.

I'm not really familiar with that area, so I can't help you there. Just be sure you get your Texas Passport in order and get a Florida Visa for it. We'll check it! Also, you are not permitted to take any fish out of the state, so I'll PM my address to you so you can drop them off at my place.

Small world. I'm willing to bet on May 25 you caught a 63" blacktip from the beach in 6' of H20. Gender was unknown but it was a female and you released it with the tag, my tag, that I put in her 351 days earlier in the same spot when she was 60".
Further more I hope you had good hunting in Pensacola, I am moving there for about 2 years in a couple days. More than likely I will see you on the beach come august.

That is the report from that trip. Your shark is the last one in the report and she should be swimming around out there for you to catch her again.

That's pretty cool sharker and sharknaggie Sharker, it is great to see ya on the forum. I recognized ur avatar and knew it was you, I have that same picture of the lemon sittn' right beside me, packed up in a box. Who knows, someday I'll probably catch that same lemon, since they seem to like the feel of a 20/0 circle hook imbedded in the corner of the jaw. I cant wait to do some fishn in Pensacola. Once again, awesome job guys!

Well,

Sorry for not replying sooner, but on arrival back to Texas I had to go out of town and just got back.

Our trip was in search of a stud, but it turned out not to be. We arrived in the early hours of Saturday morning after a 9 hour drive and found an easy access beach point form the road going east from Gulf breeze. Water was beautiful and clear and the full moon lit up the ocean like football stadium lights (indeed to become a problem!).

Well we set straight into it and put out an array of sexy baits. The only negative we found straight up front was the abundance of jelly fish in the water...so much so it really was impossible to get in the water. This made catching bait limited in the morning, but a couple of trips in the yak by sharkinnaggie and young Travis pulled in some very generous sized lady fish.

All in all we soaked baits for around 28 hours, but never had a click from a big shark. The full moon keeping the bait and sharks further out. The trip was wrapped up with 3 black tips, the biggest just nudging on or around 6ft.

It was a great place to fish and we will definitely hit it up again soon (not on a full moon !!!).
