Finor offshore reels

What do you guys think about the new finor offshore reels? the big one holds 600 yards of 100 lbs braid and can put out like 60 pounds of drag, well thats what the claim.

I am anxiously awaiting some more of the stuff I have on Ebay to sell so I cn get one...followed with a Gator Glass blank spinning version to handle it. I will probably opt for the 75 instead of the 95 as the 95 appears a bit too heavy. 65 or 80 lb. PP on the 75 model should be sufficient!

If its the OS95 your talking about...They rock, worth every cent and more, and the 60 pounds of drag is accurate, I have blown up 65 pound power pro twice now on the spool due to locking down the drag. Chaos called yesterday to let me know the new rod is done for it, cant wait to pick it up!

Must be nice. Are there pics or specs of the rod posted anywhere else on here? Also, do you not think the OFS 95 is too heavy? Just wondering which reel I should get for the 80 lb PP. Was leaning toward the OFS75, but may go to the 85 or 95 now. What do you think? I need to do something on the reel before 30 June since Ebay has discount coupons out now...10 % off the winning bid as well as free shipping coupons. Can get a new Fin-Nor for under $100.

My thought on the reel is if your going to go big, then go big.

The rod was a custom 60-100# jigging rod that I plan to use on my next tugas trip. When I use it on the pier I just put it on a heavy StarRod.

The weight does become a factor when using it, but like others have pointed out to me in the past, its sitting on the ground most the time so its really not a major issue. There are a few threads floating around about the OS95, I am just having trouble locating them.

Yeah...I've read some different posts from JettyPark. I just wonder if 100 lb PP is really necessary. Seems like 80 lb would be more than enough, and then you could go with a smaller, lighter reel. I don't think there is any difference in the price-break between 80 and 100 lb PP. Also, I think even the OFS65 is rated for the same drag as the OFS95. Which star rod do you use on the pier?

Great reel, great price, and performs well!

If your fishing the surf with it, a 13ft Breakaway HDX rod will make a great combo.

I had this reel on a Offshore Angler 11 foot purchased at bass pro. I was fishing an incoming tide on Boca inlet and the rod lit up. I forgot to loosen the drag proper and the whole rod and reel went into the middle of the boca inlet. Lost for ever. I recomend this set up for sure I will be replacing it soon.

Thanks for the info I think I will be definitely buying one next month and hiting the beach to see if I can get a shark on it.

Getting a smaller shark on it wont be a problem. Can you send me the link on how and where your getting them so cheap, I wouldn't mind having a second one.

Well...just scored an OFS75 New for $96.75 shipped on Ebay. Plan on loading it with 80 lb PP.
That should give me a little over 500 yards capacity. Now to find a rod that will handle it. I may end up with a Mudhole blank and build my first rod as well. It doesn't need to be fancy, just strong. Mudhole has a "Value E-glass blank" 8', for $27.95 that's rated 50-80 lb. Moderate Action, 3X-Heavy with a tip size of 16 and the butt is 0.99. Think that might work, anyone?

Great reels, but they do have a bit of history. Here's a post from another board:

They claim to have fixed the problem now though.

The Penn 950ssm seems to be a good alternative, and it has inf. antireverse.
