Texas Boys Coming to Florida - Round 3
Our biggest push yet to get ourselves a Florida sized stud. We are heading out of Texas late Thursday night for a 13 hour road trip to the panhandle area. We plan to fish Cape San Blas / St Georges island area for 5 days.
Would be more than greatful on any tips on getting bait (bonita, kings etc) anywhere from Panama city on towards St Georges...any leads appreciated.
Anybody wants to hook up with us, shoot me a PM and I will send you my number.

Half Hitch in Port St. Joe sometimes has them. Call ahead and let them know when your coming, they usually pick some up for me from their supplier. If not there are numerous bait stores along the coast, quite a few half hitchs, make some calls and check which ones currently have some.
If you want some advice stick to San Blas, Tarpon are thick along the beaches there in Aug and the big bulls and hammers move in on them. I got a 9' very fat bull there the first week of Aug a couple years ago on a cownose.
I know the area well, any questions feel free to hit me up.
I wish the best of luck to you!

Re: Texas Boys Coming to Florida - Round 3
Guys.....
Thanks for all your help and advice. Right now we are booked into the camp at St Georges, so the first 2 nights are set there to try our luck. If she is quiet then we will try the cape and then move on if need be.... 9ft bull is something I would really like
...and yes further south in the future will definitely be planned. We have a bit of a crew coming together for this one now, so hopefully we produce.
Thanks for all the tips on the bait shops....I have been speaking with Half hitch for some time now, so I am lined up there...and have a few others to try on the way (trying to leave as much in my freezer at home!)
Watch out for the report.

Fellas,
Just got a report from the whole crew yesterday. They have been in the BT's thick since arriving on Friday evening. However, yesterday around 1:00pm they scored big with a 12.6 tiger!!!!!
There will be a full report added when everyone gets back.

Did they get that Tiger fishing the beach at St. George Island? And if you have a chance could you ask if the old bridge on the island side that you can walk out on and fish is open or is the parking lot still under construction.

I have caught a lot of bulls and tips around there. I have heard of Tigers being seen and caught around that reef off of Dog Island there.

Contrary to popular belief; there are sharks in NW Florida, I'll be damned.

Re: Texas Boys Coming to Florida - Round 3
You were told right. The Big E is part of the Underwater Expeditions fleet. They leave out of Freeport, TX. I know they have various tuna trips ranging from 36-72 hours. I have not been out with them yet but it is on the "to-do" list. If you get a chance to make the trip I would jump on it. They know how to put people on fish.killula wrote:I wanna take a trip to Texas and fish the oil rigs for YFT and AJ's. I was told to check out The Big E.
