Opinion Of The Okuma Avenger ABF40 Reel?
I'm considering the purchase of an "Okuma Avenger ABF40" reel to go with a 7' 30lb test rod. My main interest is fishing from saltwater shore or a pier. I plan on using either 20 or 30lb braid line. Is the above feasible? Is there a preferable saltwater reel to consider in the $50 range? I realize one normally cannot get a decent new reel in my price range but it's the best i can do at the present time.

For the money its not a bad reel. I use them for big catfish up here in Ar. I beat the hell out of these reels and they always get the job done. Landed a 60lbs flathead and a 70lbs bluecat on my ABF 50 last summer. They are heavy as hell though. If you can get your hands on a use Shimano Baitrunner go with that. But like I said its a good reel for the price range
