Penn Sargus Spin Reel - unwinding

I have a new Penn Sargus reel and I cannot find any way to unwind line from the reel except by opening the bail or pulling it off the drag. Am I missing something? The instruction manual was useless and I couldn't find anything online. Usually there is a lever to switch a spinning reel into un-wind line mode. Sometimes I like to lower a line slowly over the side. Kinda difficult if you have to pull it off the drag or open the bail. Thanks in advance. - Jimbo

sargus doesnt have that option. youll have to keep your hand on the line if you want to lower it slowly

to my knowledge there is no feature of that sort on the newer penn reels.....maybe the old liveline has the baitrunner switch....i have the new battle and i just open the bail if i need to give some slack. I've never had a problem using it that way as the rod is always in my hands when i use it since its my light setup.
You can prob find an older baitrunner on CG for pretty cheap. With the baitrunner you can feed line without opening the bail or pulling against the drag.
