new full carbon mudhole blank and phenix build

Post by reelemin »

so in december mudhole gave me one of there new full carbon blanks to do a build on and test out..this is a 15-40lb..its very similar to the phenix but it comes with a very nice clear coat on it witch i love..

i dont know when these blanks will be ready to hit the shelfs but when they do i will be using a bunch of them

they are very thick walled and have a great action..very very nice blanks!!

i used a black channel lock reel seat with fuji k guides in blank and i did a full burnt cork split grip witch i love, it feels so great.. i wanted to keep the color scheme dark so those crok rings worked great!!

i love the rod, plain and simple but makes a statment!!

the second rod with the greatful dead logo is a phenix 15-40lb with a cork split grip, polished fuji k guides and silver channel lock seat..

came out very nice as well.. hope you like them..

Let us know how the blanks hold up during trips.

Where do you estimate they will put them in terms of price range?
They after AmTak?
price is going to be around the $70-80 range wholesale.
i ahve 4 of those prototype of different lenght and rating.
the one i have has a matte finish, with the same outer carbon fiber weave.
i had them all built as loaner rods for feedback. so if any of you are interested, i have it if you want to borrow it and give me feedback so i can forward it to Todd.

One of the prototypes i had was the SW70ML, kingfish/sailfish blank, already broke 14 inches from the tip.

the longer models SW86 / SW90 are deisgned for jetty and bridge fishing, as reelemin stated are thick walled like those vertical jigging blanks. more geared towards lifting the fish into the drop net as compared to the current MHX line up.
