ive fished with harley plenty of times at times he can be an anoyying little poop that likes to throw things at people or push thing to far and someimes he is OK. but i kno that he can be a bigg ass to everybodie if you start off on he rong foor or do something that he thinks is BUcked up just str8 up tell himyour being annoyyinggg n heel say fcuk off n thats all he can cath fish ive seen him catch fish but mostly bugg around

viktor, harley, and conner all got nice 12-13 inch fat grovers. one of the grovers i filleted had 6 shrimp in his stomach. 1-7 hook up ratio aint bad

Fished Channel 5 all day Sunday. Dropped a live crab as soon as I got there, and 5 minutes later the 4/0 is singing...I'm thinking sweet, permit! Turned out to be a 5 lb bonefish, what was ironic is that I had spent all day Saturday poling the flats on Biscayne Bay looking for bones, caught none, and then I catch one on a bridge on a 4/0 senator with 50lb leader.

Fishing was somewhat slow, there was a pufferfish invasion for the first 3 or 4 hours I was there, you couldn't keep a bait in the water without catching the darn things, I must have gotten 40. Picked up 2 keeper grovers (over 15") and 2 short blacks, one of which was 21". Had one scream on a freelined blue runner, but it bit off about half an inch short of the treble hook I had as the trailer. Just as I was setting to pack up, a rod that had a ballyhoo plug on a knocker rig at the base of a piling went off, I grabbed it and pulled what would have been the fish of the day, a very nice 20"+ grover to the surface, when a masssive cuda decided he wanted it more then I did and shot out from under the bridge and grabbed it.

Oh well, caught a few fish, have some ceviche going and cleared my head for the work week.

No, not really, it was hard catching grunts even. Got a few runners on a squid tipped sabiki, and there were tons of skipjacks around, which are useless as bait.

Spent the weekend from Friday 11PM till Sunday 6AM on the channel 5 bridge. Being my first keys trip, I was not sure exactly which bridge to hit or what part of the bridge to set up camp on. The final decision came down to ch 5 being below the road bridge, so less car noise. Great way to pick a fishing spot right

Wind was howling & the current was ripping, but at least the water looked right.

Put out 8 rods between me and my buddy since the bridge was empty. Got smacked on a whole gog at about 3AM Saturday morning on my Saltist50. Long hard run, Hook Set..... and then whatever was on the other end made me his b****. Didn't even slow it down. Ended with the 50# leader getting toothed, so probably just a shark, but still got the blood pumping.

2 more drag burners during the night, but no good hook sets. Saturday was slow, with just skipjack and various other trash fish (puffers, grunts, snowflake eels, ect ect).

Saturday night, the tarpon rolled in (the reason for the trip). Out go the free lined mullet, 30 minutes later the 6500 starts spewing line. Having been blueballed all day Saturday I got a bit anxious with the hook set and did not let it chew long enough. After a short yank, it spit the mullet head and was gone. Same thing happened a bit later, guess I didn't learn my lesson.

Cold front pushed through overnight Sunday, temps started to drop like a rock and the rain started to fall. At that point in time, I said screw it. I can take being cold & I can take being skunked, but toss in a rain storm on top of that, and I am done.

For my first keys trip, I learned that a) I need live crab in order to do jack. & b) I have no interest in fishing for tiny snapper like every other soul on that bridge was doing. Never before have I seen so many people poaching. FWC did make an appearance, saw many people having to toss fish out of their coolers which was nice, but after he left it started right back up.

AT least you had some big runs!

The tarpon are at Ch2 Bridge all night long, so maybe next time you could try there.
