Captiva Island

Goin to Captiva Island in early March and staying at Tween Waters Inn. I will be fishing mostly early morning and at night. Anyone have any tips on fishing that area? Are the beaches a good place? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I'll give the Kayaking a shot. They also have Canoes there as well. Which do you think is best? Any preference?

Just now saw this thread. Sorry, but I could have offered much advice. Keep me in mind next time your down there. I go down to Captiva four to five times a year.

How did you end up doing?

Thanks for asking. The weather was pretty crappy the first few days. I fished behind the Tween Waters every day and night caught a few small trout using DOA shrimps during the day, but at night I was using the glow shrimp with shrimp flavored lunker sauce, and had a couple really big tarpon that I lost because I was not expecting their presence at the time..
The last day I fished Tapon Bay with my brother in law, we rented a pontoon boat for a few hours. The weather was supposed to be nice but it was windy and overcast. We ended up catching about a dozen Trout averaging about 12 to 14 inches which we threw back. all in all it was a good first trip to Captiva, and a great learing experience for me fishing on the West Coast. I will definately go back, hopefully the weather will be better next time.....

FF--Definitely drop me a PM or email next time before you go. I get reports almost weekly from the bait shops and a couple of guides from down there.

Plus I know those two islands like the back of my hand and during every season as well.

Have you heard anything lateley snook. Im local to ft myers captiva area. Start of snook season all we caught were some goliaths but it was still fun
