S.O.S!! Help me fund Fisherman, Joe!

Hello everybody. My name is Alejandro. I started snook fishing a couple of years ago here in Costa Rica.

I ran across your board and wanted to make my contribution.

Snook fishing is a religion among local fisherman. There are countless stories and legends about Snooks that have been caught here and there in different places in Costa Rica.
We measure Snooks by Kilograms not by pounds and several local fisherman from both Pacific and Caribbean shores have caught 30+ kilogram Snooks. Obviously it was
easier 50-40-30 years ago but every year a couple of monsters are caught. None of these Snooks have been submitted to the IGFA basically because they don't know what that
is and also because they depend on selling the fish to support their families. Nevertheless, every town has their own heroes that everybody knows that have caught legendary Snooks.
Some of them have pictures, some of them have the stuffed head, but the most important, all of them have a great story complemented by the fishing partners that were present
that glorious day.
If you guys come down here to try to break the IGFA record, I would suggest you guys to also reserve some time to listen to these stories and sit down with some of these heroes.
It has been a unique experience for me. You guys could also make an award winning documentary.

Spawning season here is different than in Florida. Summer kicks in heavy in march and spawning period is based on water salinity, temperature, the amount of rainfall, and moon phases. This year we have had a long summer due to El Niño effect. Water temperature has been high and these deviations from normal water surface temperatures can have a large scale impact on the spawning season pick.
Ward Michaels caught the 60 pounder on March 29th - 31th during the new moon phase. I actually know who took him to the spawning area. The place is right outside from the Naranjo river mouth about a mile away from where the current record was caught. My family owns a large amount of land there and the river crosses right in the middle of the farm. Last sunday we went surfcasting and caught 2 common snooks of 8 and 10 kilograms and 1 black snook of 12. A week ago a local fisherman caught a 21 kilogram black snook with live mullet. To break the record several factors must be taken under consideration but that monster black snook female full of eggs will be there. Guaranteed

Everytime I hear roosterfish it reminds me of this video.

The rod on video is at least 15 ft or longer. Video can't capture the whole rod. I used to have 18 ft before.
The rod like this is built by a few rod builders in Japan or Korea... It has strong backbone but the tip is very soft.
It is much easier to handle the fight with big fish than shorter rod.
It is far easy to manage the rod being bent.

Video @ 1:21, you see fish run so quickly from right to left. Rod is straight up and the guy reeling in his full speed. The fish is very fast...
Hook must be set so firm. Short rod would be hard to keep up the speed.
